Compress a video to a smaller file
File size is bitrate × duration. Pick a lower bitrate, or a smaller resolution, and export H.264 MP4. Because nothing is uploaded, there's no file-size limit on the input.

How to compress a video
- Click Compress a video, import your file and drag it to a new sequence.
- Press Ctrl/Cmd+M (File › Export › Export) to open the Export page and choose H.264 in an MP4.
- Pick a lower resolution (e.g. 1280×720) and a target bitrate; 2–4 Mbps is plenty for 720p.
- Export and check the size; to hit a size exactly, use target MB × 8 ÷ seconds = Mbps.
Tips
- For Discord's 10 MB limit and a 60-second clip: 10 × 8 ÷ 60 ≈ 1.3 Mbps total, so set the video to about 1.1 Mbps and the audio to 128 kbps.
