Compress an image to a smaller file size
Most oversized images are simply too many pixels. Resize to the size you'll display, then choose the format and quality that hit your target size.
Compress an image No sign-up. Files never leave your device.
How to compress an image
- Click Compress an image and open your file. Export As opens.
- Choose WebP for websites (smallest), JPG for photos that must work everywhere, or PNG for graphics with flat colour or transparency.
- Lower Quality to 70–82, which is usually invisible for photos, and set a smaller width under Image Size if needed.
- Export and check the file size; repeat with a lower quality if you need it smaller.
Tips
- A 4000 px photo shown at 1200 px wide wastes ~90% of its bytes; resize first.
